Terms and Conditions

The Non Legal Bit

The part you really want to know… How Much?

(written in my own words)

Labour charges fall into 3 chargeable categories as listed below: (see why further down page!)

Labour Rate Card:

0-1 Hrs £90 (minimum fee)
1-4 Hrs £180 (half day rate)
4-8 Hrs £360 (day rate)

No other increment is used in labour pricing.

Material is charged at Trade Price plus 20% mark up.

I will charge a 50% first instalment invoice of material and labour up front before work commences.

I will supply the material for competition of the job as I will only fit product I rely on. It won’t be cheaper to get your own, trust me!
Exceptions are if you have bought your own light or similar.
But certainly not things like USB sockets bought off of amazon.

No VAT is to be added onto final price!

An estimate is an estimate of the “best case scenario” of your requirements. I do not estimate for assumptions, but expect minor infringements along the way when they are discovered whilst carrying out the job. The final bill will consist of the estimate and the extra work of resolving these discovered infringements.

My availability is in the future, not this week more than likely. Except for an emergency where I will try my utter most to attend.

I am always more than willing to pop in to see your requirements on the way home one evening to gain full understanding.

I may not be able to give a exact time I will attend your appointment or I may be running late, as the previous job may have grown arms and legs. I can’t just up and leave the work I am on. Leaving something unsafe or un-working is not good for anybody.
Your understanding is greatly appreciated in this.

Have a good read of the better written items below, this picks out little things of what I am responsible for and not responsible for.
Things like I do not remove rubble and waste or make good ceilings and walls after work has been carried out.

Many Thanks,

Stuart

If you accept the estimate and wish to proceed with the outlined work; Issues that arise from carrying out work that did not form part of the estimate will be discussed with you to come to a reasonable resolve.

Work may halt until a plan and a costing is agreed to resolve these matters. This costing will be added onto the final invoice.

  • All electrical installation work will comply with applicable Building Regulations in force at the time of the works.
  • Electrical Installation and Minor Works certificates and Building Regulations notifications issued by Wilson Electrics cover only those works installed by Wilson Electrics.
  • Where work is to extend or modify existing circuits, costs quoted assume existing circuits are safe and in adequate condition. Any works required to bring these circuits up to standard will be at additional cost.
  • No addition or alteration will be carried out to rubber insulated (VIR) or lead sheathed cables
  • Where carpet or floor coverings require lifting, best endeavours will be made to avoid damage and to refit to an acceptable standard. However, employing a specialist fitter may be prudent, to affect a fully satisfactory reinstatement.
  • Unless agreed beforehand, chases to walls, etc will be left unfilled. Final finishing of skim coat plaster and final decoration is excluded.
  • We will endeavour to undertake installation work to a clean standard. However, some additional vacuuming and cleaning down of surfaces should be expected afterwards. Any equipment susceptible to damage from dust (e.g. video or computer equipment) must be removed from the work area prior to Wilson Electrics arrival.
  • In the event the works are not competed on time due to unforeseen circumstances on the clients side, and or delays by other trades, payment may be requested for the works carried out up to the date in question, and any additional time and materials required will be at an additional cost.

New Consumer Units

  • Installation of new consumer units (fuse board) is subject to the whole installation being tested to ensure it is safe to be connected to a new consumer unit. The basic cost for this is included in the installation cost.
  • Any faults found during the above testing which are deemed unsafe, must be rectified prior to that circuit being reconnected to any new consumer unit. Any costs for such work are not included and will be charged over and above the original quotation given. Such issues will be brought to the client’s attention as soon as is practical during works.
  • It may be necessary to upgrade or install new main services bonding to water, gas, or oil supplies. This is especially common on properties built during or prior to the early 1970s and again these are at additional cost unless agreed otherwise beforehand.

Electrical Safety Checks

  • We must have full access to the board; any obstructions must be removed prior to the test.
  • We must be informed of the board location prior to our visit to ascertain whether we will need ladders.
  • PAYG meters must have enough credit for us to conduct the test.
  • Any damaged fixed fittings must be identified prior to the test; broken light switches, cracked sockets etc.
  • All sensitive equipment must be unplugged prior to the test.
  • It is imperative for the board to be marked up; all relevant circuits must be identified correctly to enable us to carry out the inspection. If not an additional hour labour will be added to allow the identification of circuits.
  • If at any point we believe the installation/site to be unsafe for us to continue with testing/inspection we will stop working and discuss with the client the remedial action required to enable us to continue.
  • Remedial work to rectify issues are not part of the safety checks and will be quoted for after the safety check.
We may fix a dangerous issue remedial we find during the safety check. This time to repair this will be added to final invoice.
  •  Certificates are only issued when payment is received in full and all funds have cleared.
  • Duplicate certificates are charged at a minimum of £25 per A4 sheet.
