Terms and Conditions
Updated 19/12/2025
The Non Legal Bit
For estimated rates, please visit my pricing page.
A 50% upfront invoice for materials and labour will be required before work begins.
I will provide the materials necessary for completing the job, as I only use products that I trust. It is unlikely to be more cost-effective for you to source your own materials. However, exceptions can be made if you have already purchased specific items, such as lights. Please note that items like USB sockets from Amazon are not recommended. *Please read section on “Customer-Supplied Materials & Equipment”
No VAT will be added to the final price!
An estimate reflects the “best case scenario” based on your requirements. I do not account for assumptions, but minor adjustments may be necessary as the job progresses. The final invoice will include the original estimate plus any additional work required to address these adjustments.
My availability is likely limited in the immediate future, except for emergencies, which I will make every effort to accommodate.
I am more than happy to visit your property on my way home one evening to discuss your requirements in detail.
While I strive to keep to appointment times, there may be occasions when I cannot provide an exact arrival time or may encounter delays due to unforeseen circumstances with previous jobs. It is important for me to ensure that ongoing work is safe and secure before leaving. Your understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Please take a moment to review the detailed items below, which outline my responsibilities and those I do not cover. For example, I do not remove rubble and waste, nor do I repair ceilings and walls after work has been completed.
Thank you very much,
Stuart
PS: I absolutely love animals, please do not think you have to lock your pets away for me.Â

Installation Work
- All electrical installation work will comply with BS7671:2018 and any amendments in force at the time of the works.
- All electrical installation work will comply with applicable Building Regulations in force at the time of the works.
- Additions and Amendments to any electrical circuit requires the whole electrical system to comply with BS7671:2018 and any amendments in force at the time. This may require additional upgrade work to comply with this standard. Inspection and testing will be carried out to ascertain this at a cost and the quotation will include the costing for these upgrade works.
Like-for-like works does not require upgrading work to be carried out but the circuit will be assumed as safe and in a adequate condition. Any works required to bring these circuits up to standard will be at additional cost. - Electrical Installation and Minor Works certificates and Building Regulations notifications issued by Wilson Electrics cover only those works installed by Wilson Electrics.
- Where work is to extend or modify existing circuits, costs quoted assume existing circuits are safe and in adequate condition. Any works required to bring these circuits up to standard will be at additional cost.
- No addition or alteration will be carried out to rubber insulated (VIR) or lead sheathed cables
- Where carpet or floor coverings require lifting, best endeavours will be made to avoid damage and to refit to an acceptable standard. However, employing a specialist fitter may be prudent, to affect a fully satisfactory reinstatement.
- Unless agreed beforehand, chases to walls, etc will be left unfilled. Final finishing of skim coat plaster and final decoration is excluded.
- We will endeavour to undertake installation work to a clean standard. However, some additional vacuuming and cleaning down of surfaces should be expected afterwards. Any equipment susceptible to damage from dust (e.g. video or computer equipment) must be removed from the work area prior to Wilson Electrics arrival.
- In the event the works are not competed on time due to unforeseen circumstances on the clients side, and or delays by other trades, payment may be requested for the works carried out up to the date in question, and any additional time and materials required will be at an additional cost.
New Consumer Units
- Installation of new consumer units (fuse board) is subject to the whole installation being tested to ensure it is safe to be connected to a new consumer unit. The basic cost for this is included in the installation cost.
- Any faults found during the above testing which are deemed unsafe, must be rectified prior to that circuit being reconnected to any new consumer unit. Any costs for such work are not included and will be charged over and above the original quotation given. Such issues will be brought to the client’s attention as soon as is practical during works.
- It may be necessary to upgrade or install new main services bonding to water, gas, or oil supplies. This is especially common on properties built during or prior to the early 1970s and again these are at additional cost unless agreed otherwise beforehand.
Electrical Safety Checks
- We must have full access to the board; any obstructions must be removed prior to the test.
- We must be informed of the board location prior to our visit to ascertain whether we will need ladders.
- PAYG meters must have enough credit for us to conduct the test.
- Any damaged fixed fittings must be identified prior to the test; broken light switches, cracked sockets etc.
- All sensitive equipment must be unplugged prior to the test.
- It is imperative for the board to be marked up; all relevant circuits must be identified correctly to enable us to carry out the inspection. If not an additional hour labour will be added to allow the identification of circuits.
- If at any point we believe the installation/site to be unsafe for us to continue with testing/inspection we will stop working and discuss with the client the remedial action required to enable us to continue.
- Remedial work to rectify issues are not part of the safety checks and will be quoted for after the safety check.
We may fix a dangerous issue remedial we find during the safety check. This time to repair this will be added to final invoice. - Â Certificates are only issued when payment is received in full and all funds have cleared.
- Duplicate certificates are charged at a minimum of ÂŁ25 per A4 sheet.
Ventilation / Extraction
I am not qualified in any form of ventilation and / or extraction services.
As an electrician I am more than happy to provide the point(s) and make the final connection to an extractor fan. And in some cases replace a faulty / broken extractor in a like-for-like scenario. Replacing for the same model or similar.
I will not advice on the best extraction nor will I amend any ducting of a system as these now require a building warrant to Part K of the building regulations.
Building Warrants
It is the client/customers responsibility to ensure permission, building warrants and authorisation for any/all work required.
